another quick shout out:

Friday, July 29th, 2011

still lacking in time/internet access here in Ala visiting my family, but, before I forget:

thank you Charlotte for letting us stay with you in Asheville! Charlotte is a fellow  Impractical Labor union member who makes experimental hand drawn films.  We were only with her for a little bit overnight, but I really enjoyed hanging out with her and her cat and geeking out about Harry Potter. (and p.s. Charlotte we finally get to see part two tonight!) She also pointed us to the best breakfast bakery we’ve gone to on this trip.

again, thanks Charlotte and we’ll be back to Asheville again as soon as we can. :)

just a note:

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

We’re nearing the end of the trip, and I have a few posts to catch up on (Penland, Mel’s day sponsorship, Marcia’s day sponsorship, Glenn House, and Steve Miller). We’re visiting my family in Alabama, talking to Rachel tomorrow, before heading back to Chicago on Saturday (with a cat!).  I’ll try to keep up, but this is probably the most packed section of my trip, so know if y’all don’t hear from me for a bit, I’m doing alright!

Robert C Williams Paper Museum/Dard Hunter collection

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Last Christmas, my grandmother suggested that I visit the paper museum at Georgia Tech.  At the time, I didn’t realize it was the Robert C Williams Papermaking museum, otherwise known as the home of the Dard Hunter collection.

So in Atlanta, I got to make two fun visits: my grandparents and Georgia Tech. My computer access is even more limited towards this end of the trip, as I’m visiting family and friends *and* making trip tour stops, so, unfortunately I can’t caption my photos at the moment. Hopefully this handful (from over 150 that I took) are fairly self explanatory. If not, maybe it’s fun guessing what these objects are until I can add titles. ;)

Enjoy!
