(note: I have a lot to post about Detroit, and it’s unfortunately got to be from my phone, so I apologize for brevity!)
Rhythm I told my classmate, Liz Isakson, that we were heading through Detroit, she pulled out all the stops on sending us contact information of people to contact and places to see. One of these people she introduced me to is Sara Aldridge, who works with The Greening of Detroit.
Sara graciously showed us her local community garden in Woodbridge, though there are literally hundreds of community gardens in the city. We talked about the obvious positive effects of these places, like fresh cheap produce for local residents and having a place to work alongside your neighbors. We also discussed though how these places have other ties to the community, like also being wonderful places to host block parties and movie nights.
So here are photos of the garden! Enjoy. :)
