Oakmother’s Papers of Intent, Hendersonville NC

When Stefanie invited us to visit and talk about our journey, we were delighted to learn of her Oakmother’s Papers of Intent: papers made with herbs and specific intents in mind for rituals or other special purposes. We pulled up to get home outside of Asheville, NC, and met Stefanie’s friend, Stephanie. (yep! :) )

She showed us her home papermaking processes and explained how uses recycled paper for many of her projects, as well as other fibers she collects herself.

She showed me some of her other paper experiments, including pulp painting and seed bombs. Quite impressive, especially with a very simple home set up–very encouraging to know that there are people making paper on all levels.

Stephanie then showed us paper that she had made with Stefanie a few days beforehand, with pressed flower inclusions from special moments in Stephanie’s life.

Stephanie then had to depart, but we continued talking with Stefanie more about her ritual process. We shared her some of the herbal paper Matt and I have made. We also discussed her future plans for an electricity-less papermaking setup, which sounds like a wonderful undertaking.

Oakmother, I hope we get to meet again! Best of luck in all your journeys.
